Although Winter Storm Jonas pummeled urban areas two weeks ago, most New England ski areas failed to benefit from the blizzard. A strong El Niño has brought abnormally warm weather to most of the East Coast this ski season (and tons of snow out west), and the disappointing snow totals have claimed their first casualties. First Tracks reports that Bromley Mountain and Mad River Glen, both in Vermont, have been forced to suspend operations this week due to warm temperatures. Both ski areas hope to reopen this weekend.
